I saw poverty

I saw poverty
and walked on by.
I closed my eyes,
but I still saw.

The mother and her baby sleeps
between parked cars
pushed against the kerb.

The missing limbs,
from landmine fields
playing music to help them heal.

The flowers sold by little girls
forced to work,
instead of school.

I saw poverty
and walked on by
I closed my eyes,
but I still saw.
